Professional Science Master's (PSM) Program Employment Survey
The Commission on Professionals in Science and Technology (CPST) is currently conducting a survey of the employment outcomes of professional science master's (PSM) graduates. Results of the survey will be posted after further study.
Professional Society Surveys
In 2002 and 2003, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation awarded grants to the American Geological Institute (AGI), the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) and the Society for Industrial Microbiology (SIM) to document and foster professional master's degrees in their respective disciplines. A common survey instrument was developed by the Commission on Professionals in Science and Technology (CPST) in concert with the survey directors from the three professional societies (AGI, SIAM and SIM), and with input from the American Institute of Physics (AIP), the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS).

Additional Surveys
In addition, the American Institute of Physics completed a survey of physics master's programs. Results of the survey are available at www.aip.org/professionalmasters/profmshigh.htm.
This survey was subsequently followed-up by another survey aimed at identifying the differences between professional master's programs and traditional academic master's programs. Results of this survey are available at www.aip.org/professionalmasters/.
