Professional Master's Programs
Master's programs designed to prepare students to enter the professional science workforce immediately after graduation are classified as "professional" master's programs. These programs have the following characteristics in common:
   A program developed in concert with industry that is designed to dovetail into present and future professional career opportunities.
   A program that is two years or close to two years (full-time equivalent) in duration, including internship.
   A program of basic study a natural science, mathematics or engineering which includes interdisciplinarity courses provided by different departments within the universitity.
   Professional training or at least exposure to:
    - Business fundamentals
    - Finance and marketing
    - Project Management
    - Communication/team building skills
   Final project or thesis a realistic reflection of the type of problem graduates would likely encounter in a probable job.
    - Industry- or faculty-generated
    - Individual or Team-produced
   Business/Industry internship, or the equivalent.
Provides Online Courses
Some master's programs offer online or distance learning courses which supplement the regular in-class experience. Online courses may make completion of the master's degree easier for working professionals.
Accommodates Working Professionals
Some master's programs are tailored to allow working professionals to attain the degree while maintatining their full-time job. These programs accommodate working professionals by scheduling evening or weekend courses as well as offering online courses.
